Why a blog about baking?


First off I love baking, and even though I can't bake a cake out of a box if you give me a complex 20 step recipe with baker's percentage's I'll knock it out of the park (or kitchen). There is something therapeutic about baking and getting to enjoy eating the results. Its also neat to see flour, sugar, butter and other ingredients come together to create something delicious that everyone can enjoy. 

With all that in mind, my thoughtful wife bought me a new book, Flour, Water, Salt, Yeast: The Fundamentals of Artisan Bread and Pizza, by Ken Forkish.



What I didn’t know was that she was also buying the necessary supplies and equipment to be able to produce all the recipes in this book. So I plan to document each of the recipes here and give my thoughts on the recipes and how they taste All of the recipes I am making are by Ken Forkish and I will not be posting the recipes here, but you can go out and buy a copy of his book if you would like. His attention to detail and his ability to simplify concepts is amazing.


So I will be posting on here about my baking adventures and maybe even some other things too. I hope you will join me and maybe learn a little along the way.
